Achievements of Democracy in Pakistan

The following article by Javed Chaudhry mentions the golden era of Pakistan under the dictatorship of President Ayub Khan. When Pakistan was considered the Oxford of South Asia. When students from Muslim countries dreamed about getting education in Pakistan. When Pakistan denied providing 500,000 laborers to Germany given all the facilities and great compensation packages. When Pakistani president used to receive historical welcome by American President and citizens. When ambassador from Washington used to wonder which will be the most modern & developed city of the world in 1980 picked from Karachi, London and Washington.

The article mentions a lot more than that, but that is the unfortunate tale of the past. Democracy has screwed up the country from every perspective. This ethnically divided nation can only be controlled and developed by a string dictator, when will people understand that?
